The 2016 Apple & Grape Harvest Festival has received a favourable boost thanks to confirmation of ongoing support from long-time festival supporters. Television marketing will be supported by Channel 7, radio by Rebel and The Breeze and news media through Stanthorpe Border Post and the newspapers forming the APN Network. It is media support such as this provided by these Platinum Sponsors that attracts the huge attendance of an average estimated crowd of 70,000 to each festival.
The support from each of these sponsors over such a long time has been marvellous and not only does it provide media and marketing opportunities, it provides for quality festival entertainment and production of the grand parade, street carnival, wine fiesta and multicultural carnival.
Joining the list of Platinum Sponsors is Tourism & Events Queensland (TEQ). The support of TEQ over many years of the festival is just marvellous. With the support of the TEQ team it allows the local committee to become more creative in its thinking about what is a truly successful carnival. The festival management committee plan to meet with TEQ in June to plan activities that can present the local area as a tourist destination, not only for the festival period but for repeat visitations in any of the district’s four unique seasons.
Continuing as a Gold Sponsor is Heritage Bank which is providing support for stages and bands at the Multicultural Carnival and Wine Fiesta and the family stage in High Street. Additional support is being negotiated with the bank to provide some colour to the parade of flags and Heritage Bank will be the only financial institution where passes to the multicultural and wine fiesta can be pre-purchased.
The Stanthorpe Garden Club has submitted its support for the festival by being a Bronze Sponsor and the committee is pleased with this new initiative which will see an Open Garden event. Already four gardens have been listed and with many more to come it is hoped this attraction will be a tourism generator through bus tours in the weeklong festival.
Currently there are applications in place for funding from government and non-government sources and these will be announced when confirmed. During the month of June there will be letters distributed seeking funding for many aspects of the festival.
