Locals will be the stars of the show at the 2016 Local Artist Exhibition held by the Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery from 18 February to April 3 this year. The gallery is committed to profiling and supporting our local artists and this open exhibition is the first of its kind in Stanthorpe. Gallery Director Nicola Holly said that “the purpose of this exhibition is to promote local artists to a whole new audience.” Ms Holly said that between 3000 and 4000 people are expected through the doors of the gallery during the Apple and Grape festival weekend alone and this will be of great benefit to local artists.
“We want to highlight the best artwork of our region,” she said. “Every piece of artwork in the exhibition is for sale and I would encourage visitors to pick up a unique item from our extremely talented local artists.”
The dynamic exhibition sees artists from Warwick to Tenterfield and everywhere in between. There is no theme set for the works which makes it more interesting exhibition for visitors. Mediums include painting, photography, sculpture, textile and ceramic.
