MONIQUE Heeremans has been named as the fourth 2018 Apple and Grape Young Ambassador. She will represent O'Mara's Hotel during her Young Ambassador Journey.
"I came to Stanthorpe when I was about three or four years old,” she said.
"I went to school in Stanthorpe.”
The 26-year old said she decided to become a Young Ambassador to help out in the community.
Ms Heeremans left Stanthorpe for a few years after finishing school but decided to come back to her hometown.
The O'Mara's bar manager said she appreciated growing up in Stanthorpe and wanted to give back to the community.
"I also hope it will help me with my confidence and my career path,” she said.
The Apple and Grape festival comes with a lot of events for the Young Ambassadors.
"I am most looking forward to the ball and the Apple and Grape itself,” she said.
She said she was excited about setting everything up and being on the float.
"I think I will enjoy the fundraising ,” she said.
Ms Heeremans said she chose to represent her workplace O'Mara's Hotel because she knew she would get good support from them.
Ms Heeremans said she hadn't organised any fundraisers yet.
"I think we're going to do a dinner here, raffles and food baskets,” she said.
Ms Heeremans said she hoped to gain more social and fund-raising experience through her Young Ambassador Journey.
