Festival calls for financial support

The Apple and Grape Harvest Festival committee is inviting local businesses to support the 2018 festival by sponsoring a festival event or becoming a general sponsor.

Committee directors have begun contacting businesses to discuss how they can help to ensure the future of the region’s flagship community event, which is a major contributor to the local economy.

Festival president Greg Thouard said the 2016 festival generated a $10.14 million economic impact for the local and surrounding districts.

“This is a figure that the committee is proud about and it wishes to improve the result for the 2018 festival and festivals thereafter,” Mr Thouard said.

“To achieve this, local support to provide more events and maintain the quality of events is paramount to festival success.

“Whether you are a business proprietor, a grower, a winery, a profession, an agency, an institution or anything else, the economic impact and the spirit of goodwill that lifts the community every festival year is so valuable.

“The uplift in community spirit when the arches and flags appear is a rewarding experience and the financial impact to the district during festival time and indeed for a long time after are all good things that are most important to preserve.”

Over its history, the festival has attracted approximately 1.3 million people to visit festival events. An unknown number of repeat visitors have discovered Stanthorpe as a must-visit destination and returned to spend tourist dollars here.

“The volunteer festival members are proud of their achievements in keeping the Apple & Grape Harvest Festival alive and vibrant and still going after all this time,” Mr Thouard said.
The festival committee has developed a prospectus for potential sponsors, outlining opportunities to financially support a specific event.

Events available for sponsorship include the opening night, seniors’ concert, fireworks, piazza activities, multicultural carnival performers, lantern parade, laser light show, volunteers' shirts and caps, food and wine street events, marching bands, the gala ball and Saturday night bands.

Supporters may choose to become a sole sponsor or team with others to co-sponsor an event.
If you are interested in supporting the 2018 festival or wish to discuss sponsorship opportunities further, contact Mr Thouard (0400 750 351) or directors Max Hunter (0427 407 801), Ray Zanatta (0427 257 463)  or Robyn Murray (0488 515 311).

Potential sponsors are also welcome to attend the festival annual general meeting to be held at 7pm this Thursday, September 14, at The Vines Motel.
