Festival Young Ambassadors

Over the years, young ladies who entered the Apple & Grape Harvest Festival Quest were known as the Fundraising Festival "Queens".

In 2001 this tradition, and history, was changed when it was decided to open the Quest to all young people of both genders. Therefore the title of "Queen" soon became "Young Ambassador".

The number of Festival Young Ambassadors changes from Festival to Festival.  In 2008, seven Young Ambassadors are vying for the Young Ambassador title.

While both young men and young women are invited to become Young Ambassadors, all are young women in 2008.

Each Young Ambassador is sponsored by a business or organisation that supports their Ambassador in their Festival fundraising efforts.

The role of a Festival Young Ambassador is to be the face of the Festival and help raise funds to keep the Festival financially viable.  The Apple and Grape Harvest Festival is one of the only events of its type that continues to be free of charge to its patrons.

2008 Young Ambassadors

A Message from the Director of the 2008 Young Ambassadors

"My name is Perditta O'Connor and I am looking forward to my role as Director - Young Ambassadors for the 2008 Festival.

Having been involved on the periphery of the Festival for several years, and then sponsoring a Young Ambassador in the 2004 Festival, it seemed only natural to take the plunge in 2005 and accept a director's role for the 2006 Festival. My role proved to be as satisfying and rewarding for me as it was exciting for the Ambassadors.

I look forward to watching and guiding the Young Ambassadors of Festival 2008 as they too develop a greater sense of self, grow in confidence, becoming articulate young men and women with a true sense of community , a passion for the Apple and Grape Harvest Festival and our Granite Belt district.

The experiences of the Young Ambassadors during the course for the next twelve months will benefit them in the future. At times there will be challenges and of course hard work however the bonds, friendships and memories they share will remain with them for a lifetime.

It will again be a pleasure and a privilege to share their journey."
